The Politics of Graffiti

Graffiti - A political force across time

The decision of making an archive film was a creative solution to convey to Criminology students the History of Graffiti across time and space. A vast selection of stills and footage created an engaging piece for students to reflect on.

David Scott Lecturer, Criminology, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

"The film provides a fascinating introduction about the social construction of ‘crime’ that will engage students and become the centre-point for the learning activities on The Open University Virtual Learning Environment. It also contributes to the blended learning strategy of our organisation."

The production objective is to encourage students to critically consider themes of crime, power relations, rights over public spaces and who is commonly considered a ‘criminal’.
