‘The Language of Protest’ analyses the communication strategies employed in demonstrations, to consider how activists cut through the noise to communicate their message, delivering key learning objectives for Open University undergraduates.

The excellent contributors sourced by Hamlett Films really brought the subject alive. The final piece is a wonderful example of the collaboration of great documentary filmmaking and academic research.

Careful research led to close collaboration with Extinction Rebellion, who allowed us access to the heart of their organisation. Further interviews with leading journalists and academics, archival footage and new behind the scenes documentation covered a diverse range of movements to ask why people join protest movements and what counts as a successful demonstration.
