Embodied Identities

Documentary for The Open University for their Child Development and Youth module.

The Brief:

To develop a film that explores how young people in the UK formulate their identities through expression on the body and to reflect on their motivation behind this.

The Challenges:

To find teenagers willing and ready to be interviewed about a very private subject. To ensure that a mix of gender and ethnicities were represented.

Our Response:

The films are varied and contemporary, bringing out issues of religion, psychology and identity. They are both intimate and honest.

The Client Says:

“This was a ‘signature’ project for me, with a tight pre-planned narrative, for pedagogic reasons, and the close collaboration with Hamlett Films’ director and editor was just what was needed to produce what has been a very successful piece.”
